The various Jetbrains tools sometimes corrupt their settings, which will lead to them giving random errors on startup.
You can fix this by following the steps below.
This removes the copy of the settings that roams between machines, but if you've already attempted to launch the app on a machine they'll be a copy where the application expects it.
These are all in your local app data directory, the easiest way of getting to this is to open an explorer window, click in the address bar and enter %LOCALAPPDATA%
then press enter.
This should change the address bar to something like Your Username > AppData > Local
.
You should see a JetBrain folder in there, inside which they'll be a folder for the software (e.g. IntelliJIdea2023.1), delete that as well.
Now if you start the app from the link in the start menu it will re-create the settings from the defaults we provide.
